Portia Peters won an award at Noise-Con 2007

Portia Peters recently won an award at Noise-Con 2007, a conference sponsored by the Institute of Noise Control Engineering.

Portia Peters won the student paper and presentation competition at Noise-Con 2007, the premier noise control engineering conference sponsored by the Institute of Noise Control Engineering.  Her paper, Loss Factors of Honeycomb Sandwich Structures: An Experimental Approach, was based on her ongoing PhD research in sandwich structure acoustics. The conference was held in Reno, Nevada on October 22-24, 2007. The award was accompanied by a $1000 cash award with an additional $500 upon publication. Portia is a 3rd-year PhD candidate in the Mork Family Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science. She performs here research in USC's Gill Foundation Composites Center under the guidance of Prof. Steven Nutt.
