Two chemical engineering graduate students in the Mork Family Department received prestigious fellowships. Scott Seidel was awarded a 3-year National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship and Philip Kwong was awarded a 3-year scholarship from the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). Scott and Philip will use their fellowships to continue their ongoing doctoral work in Professor Malancha Gupta's lab. Scott is using vapor phase polymerization to selectively modify the surfaces of nanostructured materials with functional coatings and Phil is developing patterning methods that enable functionalization of porous materials for use in microfluidic and membrane applications.
