Mork Symposium Shines a Spotlight on Student Research

The 16th Annual Mork Student Research Symposium took place on Thursday March 31, 2022, showcasing student research at the Mork Family Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science.

The event was supported by Chevron, and featured posters and presentations from MFD students. Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science Wade Zeno was MC for the day and the event organizing committee was comprised of WISE Gabilan Assistant Professor Shaama Sharada, Assistant Professor of Petroleum Engineering Birendra Jha and Professor of Physics and Astronomy, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, and Biomedical Engineering Rajiv Kalia.

The judges — featuring representatives from Chevron, The Aerospace Corporation, Aera Energy, UCLA, Northrop Grumman and UT Permian Basin — announced the following symposium student award winners:

MFD Best Presentation: Saro Meguerdijian

Honorable mentions: Mythili Surendran, Kareesa Kron and Adie Alwen.

Chevron Best Presentation :  Melanie MacMullan

Honorable mentions: Justin Ong, Kareesa Kron and Belinda Garana.
